It’s official! I am on the ballot to run for the Vermont House of Representatives for the eastern section of Shelburne and the town of St. George, Chittenden 5-2. This is a district that has been very well represented for a decade by Joan Lenes, and I am happy to announce that she has agreed to serve as my campaign treasurer.
I am excited to have this opportunity and look forward to offering my experience and skills to the community and state I love. I want to continue the strong representation this district has received from Joan.
As many of you know, I have always been interested in government and serving my community, an interest that was cultivated and energized by the years I spent working for Senator Jim Jeffords. Following this work, I was pleased to serve as the director of Government Relations at Fletcher Allen Health Care. More recently, I have spent many hours volunteering in my children’s classrooms, on adhoc school budget and graduation committees as well as a number of Chittenden County area social service organizations, including the United Way, Vermont Women’s Leadership Council, Lund, and the Visiting Nurse Association.
The timing is right for me and my family so when the seat opened, I was delighted to get going. I am looking forward to knocking on doors and talking with my neighbors and fellow community members about what issues matter most.
I consider myself a moderate Democrat committed to fiscally responsible state financing. I know how important it is to bring good jobs to our state. We must find more opportunities to match higher education training programs with employers to assist in placing qualified employees in the most productive positions. I have four children and three step children and believe we must find ways to keep our children here in Vermont. I also strongly believe that taking care of our environment is essential. Not only is it a sound business model for Vermont, it is the morally right thing to do.
This effort will cost money, and although my campaign will be modest, I need to get the word of my candidacy out. My goal is to raise $7,550 by July 30th so that I can make lawn signs, brochures, and do a little advertising to ensure I reach all voters. Please consider a contribution of $25, $50, $100 or any other amount you can manage. Your donation will help ensure that my candidacy is successful.
Thank you for your support and generosity.
All my best,
